• How does laser tattoo removal work? Lasers are powerful and able to work at a picosecond frequency that will avoid breaking your skin but will break the ink particles underneath into smaller pieces. Once that occurs, your body’s amazing mechanics can filter and flush them away naturally. This can typically take a number of sessions and each session will lighten the tattoo working on the ink a layer at a time. The good news is that with the picosecond lasers this process does not destroy your normal skin. Tattoos on various skin tone are challenging for inferior lasers. The PicoWay® laser, with its multiple wavelengths, is the only FDA cleared laser for all of the Fitzpatrick skin tone types, from light to dark. Whether you are regretting ink from days gone by or making room on your canvas for new ink…Give Skin Perfections Studio a call now!

    • How many sessions will it take to remove my tattoo? With the PicoWay technology you can actually undo your tattoo. It can take up to 2-10 sessions spaced approximately 6-8 weeks apart to give the body time to properly remove the ink and recover.   Optimal ink removal depends on a number of variables such as skin tone, the age of the tattoo, the type of ink/pigment used, the colors, etc. Some colors (greens and blues)  are more suborn and require more sessions before they disappear.  It is best to come in for a free consultation.  Let us help you decide that is best for your tattoo.

    • Will it hurt or be uncomfortable? It is not a day at the beach but it is not as uncomfortable as getting your tattoo. Yes, it is uncomfortable. However, the skin can be cooled and this can help the discomfort and we can also apply a topical numbing cream or an injectable topical anesthetic prior to the procedure. These pre-procedure applications can alleviate the discomfort.

    • What can I expect after the first session and subsequent sessions? The picosecond laser hits the skin surface so quickly and breaks apart the ink particles underneath the skin so that your body’s can remove it naturally. Most people do quite well with the procedure however we always advise that because it is so powerful it can still cause some blistering. Blisters are normal and can be expected. Blisters can then scab over and crust. Depending on your skin type this can also lead to scarring and possible skin color variation. To avoid scarring it is important to not break any blisters, let them break on their own. FOLLOW THE AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY to avoid any complications. Again most people do very well. The first session is typically the most uncomfortable as the ink is closest to the surface of the skin and darkest. It gets easier after the first session.

    • What type of after-care is required? After-care is essential to a good outcome. You will be given instruction after your procedure on how to take care of the treated area. You will need to follow them carefully. It will be very much like the after-care instructions you received after getting your tattoo. Following these instructions will help get the best healed results and the best return on your investment in this process. We will stress AFTER-CARE… Avoid any excess sun exposure. Use a sunscreen with SPF50 or greater if outdoors.  Keep the area covered with clothing. Cleanse the area twice daily with Cetaphil and water. Apply grapeseed oil or other recommended product twice daily. Return 6-8 weeks for your next session. Call if you have any issues.

    • What is the PicoWay RESOLVE laser treatment? Aging is hard on our skin. Some of us take better care of it than others. Some of us have better genetics that work either for or against us. Whatever the case, there are now treatments that can help transform your skin from the inside out. The RESOLVE laser treatments can work on Acne Scars, Wrinkles and Dark Spots. It has most recently been approved by the FDA for treatment of Melasma. See our before and after photos tab to learn more. Each treatment takes about 20 minutes and you will typically need a few treatments for the optimal results. Treatments are spaced 2-4 weeks apart. Most people experience temporary redness over the area being treated. Call for more information or book a free consultation.  It is not painful but can produce some irritation much like a sunburn.
    • What are the post procedure effects of the RESOLVE laser treatment?  The RESOLVE laser treatment treats the dermis (inner layer) and is kind to the epidermis (outer layer) therefore the effects are minimal and the downtime (time between treatments) is less.   You can expect the sensation of a mild sunburn and the skin will be red and angry looking for up to a week.  Some people develop moderate petechiae (broken blood vessels) on the skins surface from the photoacoustic/thermal affect of the laser.   This is normal and will resolve in time and with proper aftercare.

    • What is Medical Micro-Pigmentation? Medical Micro-pigmentation is different from tattooing in that it is a restorative process. The procedure helps individuals overcome many seemingly unsolvable aesthetic problems, improving overall quality of life and restoring lost confidence. Micropigmentation also uses an entirely different pigment than the ink in standard tattooing. The goal of the procedure is to either create a natural illusion of something that is no longer present such as scalp micropigmentation for hair loss, scar camouflage, restorative areola pigmentation after breast reconstruction or stretch mark camouflage. The artist is specially trained to match the skin tone so that it blends seamlessly
    • Why are laser tattoo removal and micro-pigmentation procedures so expensive?  The main reasons are that the equipment and training are very specialized and expensive to purchase and upkeep.  At Skin Perfections Studio you will be getting excellent care with top of the line technology.  THERE ARE ONLY TWO PICOWAY LASER UNITS IN THE STATE OF ARKANSAS!!!  We use the same machine that well known tattoo removal establishments worldwide use.    This will give you optimal results.  Remember…your skin is an investment, not an expense!
